Boonjamong in action Friday By Ray Wheatley — World of Boxing
Thailand’s two-time Olympic medalist Manus Boonjamong (5-0, 3 KOs) will take on Canadian Ryan Ford (5-0, 3 KOs) on Friday at the Infantry Center Division 7, Maerim, Chiangmai, Thailand. “Bonjamning is an incredible talent who won the junior welterweight Olympic Gold at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and the Silver at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games,” said Jimmy Chaichotchuang, leading IBF promoter in Thailand. “Boonjamnong will have his sixth professional fight against the Canadian’ Ryan Ford. This will be the acid test for Boonjamnong to fight Ford who is former MMA champion.” “The main event will feature IBF #5 junior flyweight Fahlan Sakkreerin Jr. (29-4-1) who will fight Filipino Lester Abutan (9-4-3) for vacant IBF Pan Pacific junior flyweight title. English coach Rian Munton will be a trainer of Boonjamnong and Sakkreerin Jr.” “Sakkreerin lost by technical decision in his first world title challenge against IBF champion Katsunari Tayakama (29-7) on April 22 in Osaka, Japan. He will now move up to junior flyweight. His father, Fahlan Sakkreerin (54-4-3), is former IBF mini flyweight champion and also former IBF Pan Pacific junior flyweight champion. He will target his father’s belt on April 22 and will look on second world title fight in 2016. "The fight card will be broadcast by Thairath TV.”
