Pathompothong stops Segu IBF #7 Patomsuk Patompothong (24-1-1, 15 KOs) Jonus Segu (11-4-1) in round seven of a scheduled twelve round IBF Pan Pacific light welterweight title bout on Friday at Klung,Chanthaburi, Thailand. Pathompothong attacked Segu at the opening bell and connected with solid punches throughout the 1st stanza. The Tanzanian stepped up a gear in round two and edged the Thai. Pathompothong gained control of the bout in round three and chopped down Segu. At the start of round seven Segu advised referee Somsak Sirianant he had injured his hand and could not continue. In other action , 126 pound Mike Tawatchai (29-7-1) forced a third round stoppage of Celvin Joe (2-3-1) of Indonesia of a scheduled six round bout. Also classy 108 pounder Fahlan Sakkreerin Jr. (19-2, 14 KOs) stopped Indonesian, Kid Suryana (11-8) in the second round of scheduled six. (Kid Suryana had also lost to WBC #1, Denver Cuello in four) Jimmy Chaichotchuang said Patomsuk showed today he is ready to challenge the top ten rated light welterweights .
