Ponteras upsets Samor 28-12-12: Filipino flyweight Ryan Rey Ponteras (11-8-1, 5 KOs) scored a major upset when he stopped Rusalee Samor (19-4-2, 8 KOs) in four rounds of a scheduled twelve round bout at Rajapark Institute, Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday. Ponteras was in control from round one as he connected with solid combinations and dropped Samor in round two and again in round four with referee Yongsak Na Songkla crowning the visitor at 2:39. Promoter Jimmy Chaichotchuang said, Congratulations to Ryan Rey Ponteras in capturing the IBF Pan Pacific title by defeating Rusalee Samor. It was a very impressive performance. In the main supporting contest Beijing 2008 super flyweight Olympian Amnat Ruenroeng (7-0,3KOs) was impressive in stopping Geboi Mansalayao ( 8-13-4, 3KOs) in round seven of a scheduled ten round bout. Ruenroeng took the Filipino to school from round one and in round seven the referee saved Mansalayao from further punishment. Ruenroeng seems destined for international honours. Chaichotchuang said, Ruenroeng was a great amateur boxer who defeated many of the best super flyweights around the world and I plan to give him the opportunity to win world IBF title within two years.
