19-05-09: Thailand University student Wacharakrit Senahan (15-1-0) captured the vacant IBF Pan Pacific jr lightweight title when he outpointed Hero Arema (18-3-0) of Indonesia in a closely contested bout over twelve rounds at the Bangkok Thonburi University, Bangkok, Thailand on Friday
Thailand University student Wacharakrit Senaharn (15-1-0) captured the vacant IBF Pan Pacific jr lightweight title when he outpointed Hero Arema (18-3-0) of Indonesia in a closely contested bout over twelve rounds at the Thonburi University, Bangkok, Thailand on Friday.
The aggressive importation Arema came to fight outscoring the Thai boxer in the opening round but the Thai stepped it up in rounds two and three to edge the visitor. Arema won round four but rounds five and six were edged by Senaharn as he delivered accurate combinations to the head and body of his opponent. Round seven had the Indonesian scoring well with power body shots but the Thai came back to win rounds eight and nine. Arema had a good round ten but the local boxer edged round eleven.. The twelth and final round was action packed as both boxers swapped bombs and at the conclusion scores were 115-113, 115-113, 116-112 all in favour of Senaharn.
Promoter Jimmy Chaichotchuang said, I am proud of Senaharn performance to defeat Arema who is a strong 130 pound boxer. Senaharn is a great ambassador for Thailand boxing because of his acheivements in the ring and also outside. He has a big fan club with his fellow students at Thonburi University. (Note: Jimmy Chaichotchuang is also a teacher in Sports Manangement at the University.)
IBF Pan Pacific bantamweight champion Tantong Kiattaweesuk (11-0) stopped Irfan Ogah (9-8-0) of Indonesia in three rounds. Ogah was out on his feet in round three when the referee saved him from further punishment by crowning Kiattaweesuk.
In a scheduled eight round bout, jr featherweight power puncher Patomchoke Patompothong (16-0-0) knocked out experienced Thitichon Singwancha(12-3-0) in round three. (Patomchoke began his professional career while serving a six year sentence in Bangkok prison. He was released in 2008 and is currently a student at the Thonburi University.)
Bangkok prison inmate Patomsul Patompothong (1-0) on day release outscored Thailand based American Toddy Junior Ultragym (1-1) in a jr lightweight bout over four rounds of action bout. Both boxers punched non stop in all closely contested rounds.
South Thailand flyweight Ruslee Samoh (9-1) outponted Kaolan Huaytaptamgym (0-1) over four rounds.
